The Patient Strategies Questionnaire (PSQ)
The PSQ was developed to identify people's own pain coping strategies following admission for surgery and is designed to enable practitioners to support the patient using their strategies postoperatively. Research has demonstrated that this approach significantly reduces postoperative anxiety, pain intensity and distress. The report describes the development of the PSQ and offers advice on its use.
